Sailor Moon Merchandise & Media Presentation – January 2015 Edition

Hello Sailor Moon fans!

This slideshow presentation was updated this January with various Sailor Moon merchandise (interesting items and new items) as well as a breakdown of some of the latest media news related to Sailor Moon.

Please note that the presentation is very picture heavy. As Moon Chase staff will be making posts about quite a few of the newer items shown in the presentation, I won’t be including my full set of notes here (which is quite long). But if you have any specific questions, feel free to comment on this post and I would be happy to answer.

You can download the presentation at this link.

This presentation was given at Frostcon 3 in Toronto on January 31st at 1 pm.

I hope that those who attened enjoyed the live presentation, and I hope that if you couldn’t make it out, you will still enjoy the download.

Keep on chasing Sailor Moon! The next presentation will be at Anime North and I hope to see you there!

Sailor Moon Season One, Part One Viz Unboxing Video & Season One, Part Two Release Date

A few weeks ago, Viz Media posted a video on their Youtube page showing off the packaging for the Sailor Moon Season One, Part One Blu-Ray and DVD sets! Both sets include the first twenty three episodes, with remastered footage and both the new dub and original Japanese track.

Both sets have a pink color scheme, featuring a shot of Sailor Moon on the front cover. The Limited Edition set includes a foil board box that is designed to hold Season One, Part Two and also contains an eighty page booklet filled with character art and song translations for the opening and endings. It also has many bonus features, including behind the scenes clips and an art gallery! The DVD set has gold foil stamped corners, and has less bonus features, just convention highlights and trailers.

Set One Standard Combo Pack

For those looking for something a little less costly than the Limited Edition set, or might not be able to pick it up before it’s gone, we have good news! A Standard Edition Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack is up for preorder! It includes the same bonus features as the Limited Edition set, but will not come with the artbox or booklet. Also, while the DVD set and Limited Edition set will be released November 11th, this combo pack has a release date of November 25th.

That’s not all! Mark your calendars for February 10th, 2015, the day that Sailor Moon Season One, Part Two will be released on Blu Ray/DVD combo pack, and its DVD counterpart! While the DVD set only promises convention highlights as its only bonus feature, the combo pack is once again loaded with extras. Art galleries, cosplay team interviews, convention highlights and a feature titled ‘Moonlight Memories, Part One’. According to the Youtube video, it’s a segment where “It’s a trip down memory lane. Talking to various people involved in Sailor Moon about their favorite memories involving Season One”.

Just like Part One, Part Two will have a limited gift with purchase to go with orders until they run out if you order through Rightstuf. This gift with purchase is a set of reversible cards featuring the Sailor Guardians and Tuxedo Mask on the front, with Queen Beryl and the other Dark Kingdom villains on the back

Sad News – Please Support Sully!

Hi Moonies:

Over the last few years I have gotten to know the wonderful Sarah “Sully” Sullivan, and she is one of the nicest people in the anime industry I have ever met. Since we started Operation Moonrise back in 2009, I quickly learned that there are very few women who work in the anime industry. I will never forget her kindness and her warmth over the years, not only talking about Sailor Moon matters, but also her words of encouragement when I was going through a tough time in the last couple of years. I am sure many of you have also met Sully at various cons, or attended cons and/or presentations that she helped plan. Sully is also connected to the new generation of Sailor Moon as an associate agent with Point of Contact Booking, which is representing many of the new actors involved with the Viz redub. Last night, I learned she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and is facing a challenging journey. A gofundme page has been set up to help cover expenses and if you are able to help, please do.

Otakon Announces Sailor Moon Voice Cast Guests and Sailor Moon Day

To go along with some of our Classic Sailor Moon voice veterans Linda Ballantyne, Katie Griffin, and voice director John Stocker, Otakon has two more voice actors to add to the list. Sailor Moon’s new voice actress Stephanie Sheh will be attending the convention, as well as our new Tuxedo Mask, Robbie Daymond! See their press release here!

Otakon has also planned a Sailor Moon Saturday in partnership with Viz Media to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show! To start, they are inviting cosplayers to attempt to break Anime Expo’s largest U.S. Sailor Moon gathering Saturday morning. Then in the afternoon, attendees will be treated to a preview of the new Classic dub, along with a Q&A with Stephanie Sheh and Robbie Daymond after the episodes are shown. Also, Otakon has stated that this event will feature two never before seen dubbed episodes! There will be an exclusive poster to go along with the Official Sailor Moon Autograph Session hosted at the convention too! Then in the evening, the first two Sailor Moon Crystal episodes will be screened to round off the day. For more details, see their press release here.

Viz Media will bring in some special items for the convention as well. These will be offered throughout the weekend at their booth in the Dealer’s Hall, but quantities are limited when they’re gone, they’re gone!

Our first item will be a limited edition Sailor Moon coin, in an exclusive color for Otakon. This coin can be earned by participating in the Sailor Moon Stamp Rally. Simply ask one of the Sailor Guardians at the Viz booth for a stamp card and then go off on your search to collect stamps and defeat the Dark Kingdom…And earn that fancy coin. Note: These will be handed out in a limited quantity per day.

The other exclusive Otakon product is a Sailor Moon T-shirt! It will be available in both ladies’ and men’s sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL) and will feature metallic pink lettering on a “deep heather silver” 100% cotton shirt.

The third item is the aforementioned poster, which shall be given out for free at the Autograph Session and the Sailor Moon Panel. Once again, quantities are limited so be sure to get yours ASAP!

Breaking News! Viz Media Posts Second Official Classic Sailor Moon Dub Clip

Yesterday’s clip not enough for you? Well, we’ve got another one! Michelle Ruff as Luna is the feature of this two minute clip, where Luna tracks down Usagi and drafts her into becoming a Sailor Guardian. Once again it advertises the Blu Ray Limited Edition set, and as mentioned on their Youtube page, if you order at Rightstuf, you can get a limited edition coin printed with Sailor Moon’s transformation brooch!
