Megan Fox Wants to See a Live Action Sailor Moon Movie

Megan Fox as April O'Neil

Megan Fox, on the set of the latest live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie directed by Michael Bay, said in an interview that she would like to see a live-action Sailor Moon movie.

When asked to list possible cartoons she would like to see turned into live action movies, she responded with:

Gundam Wing,” … adding she’d love to see a Jurassic Park remake in the works. “Pacific Rim was sort of a Gundam Wing situation, but they should do it. What about Thundercats?”

Or maybe, she says, Sailor Moon.“That could feasibly be made into a live action movie,” mulls Fox. “I don’t know how many Americans were into that. I was into that, but I don’t know how huge it was here.”

When we shared this news on our Facebook page, fans immediately seemed upset and took this news to mean that Megan Fox wants to play the part of Sailor Moon if there is a live-action, English language film.

Although it is implied that Megan would like to be involved in such a project if it happens, I think we can all agree that she is not the right fit for any of the protagonists. The Sailor Senshi are a fair bit younger, and fans would generally prefer actresses more suitable for those roles (actresses who either are teens or who can convincingly play teens).

If Megan Fox does get involved, we think maybe a possible role as a villain might work … but we hope that regardless Michael Bay is not involved!

Also, as fans have pointed out – it seems that Megan Fox is unaware of the live action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon series that aired in Japan. Perhaps her mention of live action Sailor Moonwill encourage fans to seek it out and see if they like it for themselves.

BREAKING NEWS: Kirsten Dunst Music Video in Akihabara!

Takashi Murakami’s short film Akihabara Majokko Princess starring Kirsten Dunst has finally been posted! The music video has Kirsten dancing in Akihabara singing a cover of Turning Japanese by The Vapors and wearing a horribly clashing, extremely garish costume that has been compared to Sailor Moon’s outfit.

We were hoping that after two posts we could forget this awkward fashion decision that merited a Sailor Moon comparison, but third time’s the charm; we get to live it all over again, and we just had to share our misery! 😀

We recommend that only older readers watch the video. There are some background visuals that are not suitable for children.

EDIT: it appears that Company3 has taken the video down, but fans can watch it on YouTube here!

Tabloids and Colleagues Have Field Day With Togashi and Takeuchi

Some pictures appeared on 2Channel a few weeks ago, and caused quite a stir not only with users of the hugely popular newsgroup, but the public as well. The pictures depict Sailor Moon and the other Senshi being seemingly angry with a dog, and they are considered to be somewhat symbolic of the creator Naoko Takeuchi, and her husband, mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi. These themes also echoed in sentiments uttered by Togashi’s famous predecessors. First though, we’ll direct your attention to the pictures. These pictures were listed under a thread titled “Sailor Moon is angry because of Togashi”, and probably came from a fan who was tired of Togashi’s Hunter X Hunter not being on a regular schedule anymore. One comment said that maybe this picture is really showing Naoko Takeuchi being angry with Togashi over not working or not being motivated and all she wants to do is hit him. Other images show Sailor Moon relaxing with the dog, Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus gathering power from the dog, Sailor Chibi-Moon and Sailor Moon petting a cat, Tuxedo Mask holding Chibi-Usa on his lab with Luna-P, and then all the senshi strangling the dog. After the jump we will show you all the relevant images with Sailor Moon, but there are other humorous ones of Hunter X Hunter and the dog picking his nose in front of Pokemon posted here. Again, no one knows who drew these, but perhaps this might explain some of the reasons why the boxsets are being re-released?

The first picture was also featured in another article. Another mangaka, Kenshi Hirokane (of Tasogare Ryuseigun fame) likes to also draw manga based on social issues, and he had a few comments to say about Togashi in a commentary with one of the editors of Weekly Morning, Akihiro Yoshihino. First, he asked why the editor was approving comics to be published when they were still in the draft stages, but he responded that he had fans to please, and that he could not take a break. But then he mentioned the opposite case where some comics were published after long periods of time, with the same amount of interest from the fans, to which he responded something to the effect of the fans will know that there is a lot of work put into it and it was worth the wait. The article launched into a look at Togashi based on that last point. The writer came up with 4 potential reasons for why Togashi has not returned to finish Hunter X Hunter:

1. He is too tired to draw.
2. He has no motivation to draw.
3. He received a large payment from Shonen Jump and is being lazy.
4. His wife Naoko Takeuchi punished him in the name of the Moon.

Nice to know that people are still making Sailor Moon jokes with respect to Naoko Takeuchi, eh? The writer of this article calls for the readers to take action against poor quality manga being published in these magazines (Shonen Jump is included) and to stop subscribing to it. Hirokane later said that he will always be in gratitude to his fans and will always submit his highest quality work for publishing not to let them down. He said it is always better to publish a finished project than one that is still in draft! The article ended with the writer’s search for anything new with Yoshihiro Togashi, and found topics like he is finished with manga or perhaps even dead.

Whatever is going on with these two, we all sure wish we had some real answers!

As promised, here are the other images!

Kirsten Dunst Video Posted!

Warning: only push the play button below if you are absolutely okay with the atrocious costume Kirsten Dunst is wearing. I think I want to name the costume “Nuclear Waste Sailor Venus”. Timewarp.jp posted a video on Youtube today with some highlights of the shoot of this video in Akihabara. It’s been busy behind the scenes lately but hopefully this weekend we can get you some updates! For now though…

Kirsten Dunst Resembles Sailor Moon for New Music Video

Kirsten Dunst was spotted in Tokyo yesterday wearing an outfit that would only blend in with the trends in Akihabara! Terminator: Salvation director McG was shooting some sort of music video (to be screened at an exhibition later in London) in Japan. Her costume has been dubbed a “whopping cosplay”. According to timewarp.jp, the knee socks under her colorful uniform reminded people of Sailor Moon, but then the writer wondered if she knew how badly every piece of her outfit clashed, and if she knew that Akihabara fashion had a bit more refined taste than what she was wearing. And we have to wonder that too! She reminds us of a whacked-out version of Bulma from Dragon Ball. Kirsten was one of the first celebrities to admit that she was a fan of Sailor Moon, going way back to 1997, when lucky fan Priscilla “Usagi” Silguero sent in a sighting to SOS , where she spotted some Sailor Moon decor in her bedroom. Turn to page 100 in the PDF of the issue of People! In 2002, she made mention of her love for Sailor Moon, as well as her wish to make a live action version of it too! Kirsten, if you are this big a fan, and you were really trying to emulate a version of Sailor Moon like several outlets are reporting, was there really no way for you to tell McG or the wardrobe people that what you were wearing was just plain tacky? Nonetheless, it’s nice to see Kirsten having a little fun with this atrocious combination of clothing. Fans can check out some more pictures here, and we have another blog link from Moon Chase fan, Misa! If you want to attempt this costume, click here for some hints.

And speaking of fans, one of them has even started a fanclub for us – which was completely unexpected! If you are interested in joining a Fan Club for Moon Chase, click here! Its still under construction, but will hopefully soon look a lot nicer!

HEY – Thanks for visiting Moon Chase! Did you know that we’re trying to bring Sailor Moon back to North America? Click here for our latest campaign!
