First Episode of the Zannen, Canada Podcast Features Sailor Moon Memories

Hello, Sailor Moon fans!

I took part as a speaker in the first episode of the Zannen, Canada podcast and there was plenty of talk about Sailor Moon. I reminisced about how I got into Sailor Moon and my experiences as an early fan of the franchise before the Internet age. There’s also discussion of missed opportunities for anime in Canada and hopes for the future.

Some of you may remember Jesse Betteridge’s previous version of Zannen, Canada which was a Canadian focused anime news site. The podcast is like the next generation of that, with lots of discussions about anime and future interviews with industry figures. She podcast has a primarily Canadian focus, but should be of interest even if you’re outside of Canada and would like to hear more about anime in North America.

Coming January 28th (As of this article its now past) is the release of the recent Sera Myu Musical “Petite Étrangère” which came out in summer 2014 in Japan. For us Moonies out in the US, the musicals are unfortunately still out of our reach for actually attending unless you visit the country, but the DVD is the next best option in this case. The more recent musical is based off of the Sailor Moon R storyline that the upcoming Sailor Moon Crystal season will be covering (coming to a Crunchyroll source nearest you) which features the debut of Chibi Usa into the story along with Sailor Pluto, one of the Outer Senshi.

Extras include a behind the scenes making of feature that shows how the musical was made, a “party” video and commentary from the from some of the main cast of the show.

Currently the DVD is released at 8,424 Yen (70 dollars US) and was released the same time as Momoiro Clover Z’s new song “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saitemina” which is a song that was collaborated by Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, KISS. For those who are interested, the DVD is available on this link.

Viz Media Releases Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus Voice Clips

Viz Media has released four voice clips on their Youtube page in the past month, showcasing the last two of our original line of five Sailors, Jupiter and Venus!

Our first introduction to Sailor Jupiter is a clip from her very first appearance in episode: “Jupiter, the Powerful Girl in Love”. Amanda Celine Miller plays our outgoing tomboy, Makoto, as she finds out she’s a Sailor Guardian and helps blast away the monster of the day.

Joining Amanda, Cherami Leigh makes her debut as Sailor Venus in a clip from “Let’s Become a Princess: Usagi’s Bizarre Training” where the Dark Kingdom targets Usagi, Rei and Minako (Venus) after they fail to pass an etiquette test.

There are two more clips on the Viz Media page, another scene from Jupiter’s introduction episode where Usagi and Makoto have a conversation over lunch, and one more clip of Minako from “Usagi’s Confusion: Is Tuxedo Mask Evil” where she shares a quiet moment with Usagi, trying to cheer her new friend up.
