I Have Been a Sailor Moon Fan Since: 1997 or 98 the glorious Toonami days ^^

Favorite Episode or Movie: Hard to say really since the anime is really awesome and is my gateway anime next to DBZ, Tenchi, Pokemon etc. However, my fave series happens to be Sailor Stars since it was a mature-ish series in the Sailor Moon series and Usagi showed a lot of growth within the anime here. Plus god I love her form in this series too with the angel wings and everything.

Favorite Sailor Moon Character: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus.

Other anime or Manga I like: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Madoka, FLCL, Tenchi, Golgo 13, Soul Eater, Cowboy Bebop, Steel Angel Kurumi, Pokemon, Street Fighter. I like many others as well, but this is just to name a few.

Other tidbits about myself: I been a cosplayer since 2008 and been in the con scene in my neck of the woods for a bit now. Other than anime, I love Video Games since it became a gateway to my geeky interests including anime along with Pro Wrestling. Sailor Moon as I said was my gateway anime and it even led me among other things to have me meet my girlfriend who happens to be a Serenity cosplayer herself and a Moonie like me. Glad to be on the staff of the website so I’m looking forward to what I can bring to the site.

I Have Been A SM Fan Since: Late 2001
Favorite Episode or Movie: Okay, I’m a bit of a heathen but I actually might say the Entirety of PGSM… If I have to go animated though, the Mistress 9 Saga from Sailor Moon S. Also Episodes 196-200 of Stars. Fav Movie: Sailor Moon R: The Movie
Fav SM Character: Sailor Saturn from the Anime; Sailor Luna and Zoisite from PGSM. Also, loving Crystal Tuxedo Kamen/Chiba Mamoru.
Other Manga and Anime: Demon Diary, Planet Ladder, Digimon (S1-3), Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Black Butler, among many others
Other Tidbits: I was in the Navy for 4 years, spending a few of those in Japan (Sadly, no SM Musicals were going on while I was there). I also would use Sailor Moon to study for my advancement exams, which apparently helps. I am a full-time student who studies Psychology, wants to study law and wants to watch her Anime too.

I Have Been a Sailor Moon Fan Since: Around 1996

Favorite Episode or Movie: Sailor Moon R: Promise of the Rose. I had seen episodes here and there since I was five when visiting a good friend who had cable, but the first Moon movie is what made me a fan for life when I got to rent it way back in 2000 or so. I still have ‘The Power of Love’ on my iPod to this day.

Favorite Sailor Moon Character: Sailor Jupiter. Ponytailed tomboy myself, Lita/Makoto was my idol for her unabashed love of both boyish stuff and girly things. I also had a serious love of cooking.

Other Anime or Manga I like: Moribito, Beast Player Erin, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kamisama Kiss, Kaleido Star, Cardcaptor Sakura, Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Moon o Sagashite, anything Studio Ghibli or Mamoru Hosoda, and of course, the new Sailor Moon manga reprint.

Other tidbits: I honestly don’t know if I would have ended up in culinary school if it weren’t for my fangirling of Lita back in the day. If I could pick how a release of the old Sailor Moon anime was created, I would vote for an uncut redub with the old cast and dub music cues on the same disc as a Japanese sub track. The upcoming anime? Fancy pants box sets with extras everywhere please and thank you!

Anime Blitz Announcement

Hi Moonies! I’ll be doing two panels at Saskatoon Blitz 2013.  Moonie 1995 is unfortunately unable to join me this year due to another commitment (but he’s helped me put things together)!

The first will be on Saturday at 12:00 Noon and is a pet project I’ve been trying to figure out how to do for the last few years.  I’m calling it “Con College 101”, and this will be a panel where older fans who have a deeper appreciation for sci-fi and anime culture can come together and discuss this.  So I’m going to kick it off this year and talk about cyborgs in a panel titled “Can Cyborgs be Human After All?” Some of you may be surprised to know that cyborg feminism is a hobby of mine, and I was encouraged by many of my biology and women’s and gender studies colleagues to do more with it!  I’ll be talking about important concepts and definitions, some popular characters and have some clips to show. I hope to get the audience thinking about the cyborgs of science fiction almost coming to life off the screen and start some discussion to try to think about answers to important questions about whether we are still in the age of the transhuman or if we have progressed to the posthuman.  This is going to be partly based on an academic colloquium I gave over a year ago (along with some updates).  If this is successful, I hope to invite scholars and members of the community to discuss other popular topics at future cons.  Also, I will have a suggestion box there too  – if you have any ideas for topics I should try to find speakers for next year I’d like to know what they are!

The second one is the Moon Chase panel, and it will be later on Saturday at 3:30 and I’ll be talking mostly about what’s new and what’s been going on with Sailor Moon as of late. This includes everything from the new series, to merchandise, to the manga, and of course, last night’s musical announcement as well as whatever is going to be announced later tonight and this week.  I’ll have some products on display too from Buckle-Down that you can’t find in stores easily, and I’ll also be showing the Sailor Moon costumes from both Leg Avenue and Incogneato. I’ll also be making an interview announcement there too before I post it on the site sometime during the next week.  I’ll also have a few of last year’s purple buttons on hand to give away too. I look forward to updating our Saskatoon Moonies as well as answering your questions (or finding answers to questions that I don’t have answers to)!
