All cosplayers know the best thing to make any cosplay stand out is a cosplayers prop….or the cosplay itself. Anyways, hot off their release of the recent Season 1 Moon Stick Proplica comes the Cutie Moon Rod Proplica by Bandai from Sailor Moon R. It was previewed at the Tokyo Toy Show this past June and is seeing a release this October. The prop itself includes lights and sound effects including the “Moon Princess Halation” attack voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi herself who voices Sailor Moon. It also features for collectors out there a stand that’s shaped like the Moon Kingdom castle to proudly display it on your mantle along with your other anime or Sailor Moon goods. It’s even usable for all you Sailor Moon cosplayers out there for your next con or event. Currently its on preorder on Amazon for $100.00. Or on Jlist for $120.00

I Have Been a Sailor Moon Fan Since: 1997 or 98 the glorious Toonami days ^^
Favorite Episode or Movie: Hard to say really since the anime is really awesome and is my gateway anime next to DBZ, Tenchi, Pokemon etc. However, my fave series happens to be Sailor Stars since it was a mature-ish series in the Sailor Moon series and Usagi showed a lot of growth within the anime here. Plus god I love her form in this series too with the angel wings and everything.
Favorite Sailor Moon Character: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus.
Other anime or Manga I like: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Madoka, FLCL, Tenchi, Golgo 13, Soul Eater, Cowboy Bebop, Steel Angel Kurumi, Pokemon, Street Fighter. I like many others as well, but this is just to name a few.
Other tidbits about myself: I been a cosplayer since 2008 and been in the con scene in my neck of the woods for a bit now. Other than anime, I love Video Games since it became a gateway to my geeky interests including anime along with Pro Wrestling. Sailor Moon as I said was my gateway anime and it even led me among other things to have me meet my girlfriend who happens to be a Serenity cosplayer herself and a Moonie like me. Glad to be on the staff of the website so I’m looking forward to what I can bring to the site.
Ladies and Gentleman,
Viz held its Sailor Moon panel at the 2014 Anime Expo. Announced were the dub cast for the Viz Re-dub of Sailor Moon (The Classic Anime) as well as the release of a new box set, along with date.
Sailor Moon Season 1, Part 1 box set will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 11, 2014 and has been seen to run from $56-80 for Blu-Ray with about $30-50 for the standard DVD release. Online Retailer Right-Stuf had a pre-order promotion for a limited edition coin but that has since sold out.
The Limited Edition Blu-Ray/DVD set comes with episodes 1-23 on 3 Blu-Ray and 3 DVD plus an 88-page, full-color premium booklet, all in a nice chipboard art box that will have room for Season 1, part 2. Viz has stated that all 5 seasons will be released in these boxes.
Now what about Sailor Moon Crystal? As of now, according to Japanese Entertainment Website Natalie.Mu(Site is in Japanese), the season will be released by King Records in 13 two-episode volumes with a limited edition release of Volume 1 (Episodes 1-2) in Japan on October 15, 2014 with a wide Blu-Ray/DVD Release on November 12, 2014 (The Day after Sailor Moon Season 1, Part 1 is released in the US… Actually, the same day due to time difference). The limited edition Blu-Ray set will actually be housed in a large designer box that doubles as a music box that will play the theme for Crystal “Moon Pride” (Though the box is part of a Japanese Promotion that comes from buying the individual DVDs) and the DVDs come with special booklets, with Vol. 1 coming with a larger bag chain charm and and all volumes including smaller charms, which may be attached to the aforementioned chain (Information found on SailorMoonCollectibles.com) and it seems that the Prices are going from 7020-8100 Yen, depending on the title and can be pre-ordered on the CDJapan website (The rest of the titles can be found here as well). The prices for the normal Blu-Ray are going for 4860 Yen and the Regular DVD volumes are priced at 3780 Yen and all of these can be found on the CDJapan website as well.
There is currently no word of a US set release for Sailor Moon Crystal as of yet but information on them will be posted for both Sailor Moon Classic and Sailor Moon Crystal as we get more details.
Update (11/16/2014): Limited Edition Blu-Ray for Episodes 1&2 for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal Released October 15th. Pictures for the Limited Edition Blu-Ray set shown below:
The Art for the DVD showcases Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon. The set also includes a special booklet, the enclosed Sailor Moon Bag Chain and the first charm resembling Sailor Moon’s Moon Stick. The remaining charms will be included with later limited edition Blu-Ray box releases. Also, the large box for the full Blu-Ray set has also been revealed

I Have Been A SM Fan Since: Late 2001

Fav SM Character: Sailor Saturn from the Anime; Sailor Luna and Zoisite from PGSM. Also, loving Crystal Tuxedo Kamen/Chiba Mamoru.
Other Manga and Anime: Demon Diary, Planet Ladder, Digimon (S1-3), Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Black Butler, among many others
Other Tidbits: I was in the Navy for 4 years, spending a few of those in Japan (Sadly, no SM Musicals were going on while I was there). To go along with some of our Classic Sailor Moon voice veterans Linda Ballantyne, Katie Griffin, and voice director John Stocker, Otakon has two more voice actors to add to the list. Sailor Moon’s new voice actress Stephanie Sheh will be attending the convention, as well as our new Tuxedo Mask, Robbie Daymond! See their press release here!
Otakon has also planned a Sailor Moon Saturday in partnership with Viz Media to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the show! To start, they are inviting cosplayers to attempt to break Anime Expo’s largest U.S. Sailor Moon gathering Saturday morning. Then in the afternoon, attendees will be treated to a preview of the new Classic dub, along with a Q&A with Stephanie Sheh and Robbie Daymond after the episodes are shown. Also, Otakon has stated that this event will feature two never before seen dubbed episodes! There will be an exclusive poster to go along with the Official Sailor Moon Autograph Session hosted at the convention too! Then in the evening, the first two Sailor Moon Crystal episodes will be screened to round off the day. For more details, see their press release here.
Viz Media will bring in some special items for the convention as well. These will be offered throughout the weekend at their booth in the Dealer’s Hall, but quantities are limited when they’re gone, they’re gone!
Our first item will be a limited edition Sailor Moon coin, in an exclusive color for Otakon. This coin can be earned by participating in the Sailor Moon Stamp Rally. Simply ask one of the Sailor Guardians at the Viz booth for a stamp card and then go off on your search to collect stamps and defeat the Dark Kingdom…And earn that fancy coin. Note: These will be handed out in a limited quantity per day.
The other exclusive Otakon product is a Sailor Moon T-shirt! It will be available in both ladies’ and men’s sizes (S, M, L, XL, XXL) and will feature metallic pink lettering on a “deep heather silver” 100% cotton shirt.
The third item is the aforementioned poster, which shall be given out for free at the Autograph Session and the Sailor Moon Panel. Once again, quantities are limited so be sure to get yours ASAP!
